Classroom Videos

Ms. Pickenpaugh has created several educational videos for her Visual Arts students to aid in their classroom experience.  These videos can be found on her YouTube channel.

This is Your Brain on Art

When we experience art, we feel connected to something larger.  Why?  Using brain-imaging and other tools of neuroscience, the new field of neuroaesthetics is probing the relationship between art and the brain.

Noche en el Zócalo (May 2017)

At the 2017 VAPA Spring Showcase, Noche en el Zócalo, Visual Arts students from all grade levels displayed works of different genres and mediums that they completed during the spring semester.

Visual Arts Elective

In sixth and seventh grade, students may be assigned Visual Arts as one of their two semester-long enrichment classes.  Eighth graders can request Visual Arts for their year-long enrichment class when they fill out the preference form at the end of seventh grade.

Ms. Pickenpaugh Recieves Award

JLMS visual arts teacher Ms. Pickenpaugh was the 2018 recipient of the Daniel Ryan Arts Award.  Always thinking of her students, she plans on using the grant money for ceramics supplies!
