School Tours - Tuesdays at 9am

We welcome parents and students to tour our school starting at the end of October through December 2018.  No appointment is necessary.  Please arrive on time.  Tours are held 9 am - 10 am on Tuesdays.

Student Drop-Off

For everyone's safety, please drop your students off in the white zones.  All students and parents should cross the street using crosswalks.  There are crossing guards at Clipper @ Noe as well as Castro @ 25th Street. 

  • Students will be able to enter the lower yard through the Clipper Street gate only.
  • Students will need to enter the Clipper gate to go the cafeteria for breakfast.
  • The front doors will open at 8:25am when the bell rings to enter the building. 

SFPD and SFDPT will issue tickets to:

  • Vehicles parked in the white drop-off only zones.
  • Vehicles double parked around the school.

High School Application Workshop

Attention 8th grade families!  The High School Application Workshop is Wednesday, October 24th, from 5-7pm.  Representatives from Lowell, Ruth Asawa SOTA, and various private high schools will be in the cafeteria to assist with applications and other questions families may have.  Students will also be able to receive assistance on general SFUSD high school applications.  Dinner will be provided.

Calling all 7th and 8th graders who are interested in joining the trip to Ashland, Oregon in April should attend the information meeting on Thurs. Oct. 18. 6-7pm in room 236.

 

Annual trip includes:

- visiting tribal land in Redding, CA

- Staying and eating in the conference dorms at Southern Oregon University
- Plays and workshops at Ashland Shakespeare Festival
- Snowshoeing at Crater Lake National Park.

 

Fees: $420/per person with financial assistance provided by JLMS PTSA.  Forms available with the application and at the meeting. Payment plan available of $75/month. 

 

Only 55 seats available.

On Wednesday, November 7, 2018, JLMS will be hosting "Loteria Night" (Picture Bingo Night).  It is an annual school event for families and students that focuses on building and strengthening our diverse school community.   We are looking for donations in any form to provide as prizes for the Loteria winners throughout the night.  Ideas for prizes include, but are not limited to: gift cards/certificates (in any monetary value), dry goods, food, gifts, etc. The donations will be disseminated to winners during the event.   As we will be combining and wrapping prizes, prior to the event, we have a deadline of November 2 for items to be donated, either in person or by pick up.

8th graders can sign up to attend a half-day field trip to the 3RD ANNUAL FALL SHOWCASE at John O'Connell HS on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, where they will visit a variety of classrooms and can ask questions at a panel of current O'Connell students. There is space for 40 students.  Permission slips will be passed out the week of October 22nd.

PICTURE MAKE-UP DAY, the last opportunity to take a student portrait, is Monday, Oct. 22, 2018.  The 8TH GRADE CLASS PANORAMIC PICTURE will be taken on Oct. 22 during 3rd period.

Every Saturday several 8th graders will be at the Noe Valley Farmers Market from 9am-12pm selling delicious baked goods to help raise scholarship funds for their annual trip to Washington, D.C.  Please come out and support them!
